Four caught withdrawing thousands from numerous SASSA cards in Vryheid CBD
Many SASSA beneficiaries may be in for a nasty surprise this month.
Four suspects are set to appear in court today after they were caught withdrawing large amounts of money using SASSA cards.

Commander of the Visible Policing (Vispol) Unit in Vryheid, Lieutenant-Colonel Bhekizitha Zwane confirmed that two women were caught at around 11pm last Thursday withdrawing money from an ATM in the CBD. At the time when they were caught, the pair had already withdrawn R30 350. The police ceased 29 cards.

In the late hours of last Friday, two men were also caught withdrawing money from an Absa ATM in town and at least 50 SASSA cards and over R20 000 cash was confiscated.
All four are currently in custody and are set to appear at Vryheid Magistrate’s Court today.
