Businesses unite against crime

During the monthly Business Against Crime (BAC) meeting held last Thursday, theft out of motor vehicles was the main topic discussed.
While the police cannot be held accountable for the actions of criminals, they were requested to assist by issuing warning leaflets to be put up in businesses.
It was a problem for police getting posters up, police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Simon Luthuli told members, as business policies didn’t always allow posters in shops.
Concerns were raised about car guards’ alleged involvement in vehicle theft and ‘operational cameras’ that were not in working order when victims requested to view footage after a crime had taken place.

Members were urged to look at microdotting personal belongings such as laptops, cellphones and other electronics. This would significantly assist police in identifying items when recovered.
