FOLLOWING the visit to Vryheid last week of aggressive door-to-door agents of a solar geyser company, Eskom has issued a statement regarding the agents’ claims of representing the power utility.
Under the heading: PLEASE BEWARE OF SOLAR SUPPLIERS POSING AS ESKOM OFFERING ENERGY AUDITS,
Eskoms warns the public about the sort of misrepresentation that Vryheid residents were subjust to last week. The statement reads:
“Eskom would like to warn the KwaZulu-Natal public about illegal activities by certain suppliers of solar products purporting to be representing Eskom.
“Eskom is NOT doing residential energy audits anywhere in the country and will never phone a homeowner to access the home for an audit.
“In certain parts of the province some solar companies are approaching residents for appointments for “Eskom sanctioned energy audits”. Should anyone approach you with a request to visit you to do an energy audit, please report this to your local police as this is not sanctioned by Eskom and is misuse of the Eskom name to gain access into your home.
