Making a difference – a little goes a long way

Staff from Estcourt Hospital sacrificed their time to try and bring smiles to the faces of needy families in the eMabhalonini area on Mandela Day.

Mandela Day is an international celebration aimed at encouraging each individual to do an act of goodwill and try to make a change in the communities we all reside in.
Estcourt Hospital was not exempted from the millions giving time to portray acts of kindness.
Staff from Estcourt Hospital sacrificed their time to try and bring smiles to the faces of needy families in the eMabhalonini area on Mandela Day.
Two families, which were identified by social workers from Estcourt Hospital were visited on the day.
Food parcels and blankets were donated by hospital staff and were given to the two families to help them for the month. Matron Adams advised families on how best to cook food to ensure they get all nutrients.
Both families showed great appreciation for efforts made by the hospital in trying to make a difference in their lives.
Hospital staff is still on a Mandela Day high as blankets and clothes are being collected to be given to needy families at eMabhalonini area, with the aim to help as many families as they can. Estcourt Hospital would like to thank community care givers who assisted social workers in identifying families who needed help and all staff who were self-less and donated what they could to make this initiative a success. The little that they gave will definitely go a long way in helping those families.
