The biggest school in the area, Ethangeni, is to add to its growing reputation in 2014 by opening up two brand-new Grade R classes at their premises on Cornhill Street.
Principal Leenert Botha said Ethangeni currently caters for 35 Grade R pupils, but with the opening of the two classrooms – built by the Education Department – the school will be able to attract more ‘first-time pupils’.
“The classrooms are fully equipped, colourful and there is even a jungle gym. We are pleased that we will be able to extend our services,” Mr Botha said.

Mr Botha added that Ethangeni is looking forward to an improved Matric pass rate this year. There are 78 pupils in the Class of ’13 and Mr Botha has predicted a ‘94% pass rate’.
“Last year the pass rate was 74% but I know this class is going to better,” he enthused.
