Burglars caught with groceries
Two suspects were arrested for burglary, after being caught red handed with stolen property.
Constables Sandile Khumalo and Sinhle Skosana were performing routine patrols last Thursday morning, when they noticed two suspects pushing a trolley full of groceries in the Mosque parking area.
At 5.30am with no stores open, the two officers stopped and questioned the suspects.
While questioning the suspects, the two officers noticed another two trolleys filled with groceries.
Upon investigating the area, it was found that the burglar gates and door leading to a supermarket’s storeroom had been broken, and approximately R6 000 worth of groceries had been removed from the premises.
According to Captain Shooz Magudulela, SAPS spokesperson, the owner of the supermarket was contacted and he identified the groceries as that from his store room.
The two suspects are expected to appear in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court.
Further police investigations continue.
