Officers pounced on two suspects seated in a vehicle at the entrance to Settlers Park

An intelligence-driven operation resulted in two arrests and the recovery of dagga early last week.

Ladysmith Crime Intelligence & Protection Services (CIPS) and Ladysmith K9 Unit officers pounced on two suspects seated in a vehicle at the entrance to Settlers Park on Tuesday afternoon (November 12).

The officers recovered 20 bags of loose dagga that weighed in at around 80kg, with a street value of about R80,000.

The two suspects, aged 29 and 50, were arrested and face charges of possession of dagga. Police are following up on various leads to try and establish the intended destination of the drugs.
