Truck crashes into motor dealership

A truck driver smashed into a car dealership this afternoon (November 18).

Drama unfolded on Allen Street when a truck collided with two vehicles and came to a stop after crashing into the VW dealership on the corner of York and Allen Street.

According to a source on the scene, the truck’s brakes had failed, which resulted in the collision.

One of the motorists who was involved in the incident, explained that he had been turning at the Allen and York street intersection.

“The truck first touched on a bakkie and then hit my car full on. My car is only three months old and now this,” said the motorist who added that he did not suffer any injuries.

An employee from VW who wished to remain anonymous, said that staff received a nasty shock when the incident occurred. “We were busy working and suddenly there was a big bang.”

No cars in the showroom were smashed. However, the source explained that there was a lot of glass, so it would have to be determined after the showroom was cleared of the rubble if any vehicles were scratched.

The truck driver was trapped inside his vehicle and the extent of his injuries was not clear at the time of the article being published.
