The colours of red and black were definitely in vogue when the Dundee High School class of 1963 held their 50-year reunion.
The reunion included past Dundee High pupils who also schooled in ‘that era’!
The get-together weekend was organised by Yvonne Lucini (Rogers), Yola Howes (Balsdon), Willie Snyman (Schoeman) and Tish Coleman (Liversage), and saw Matriculants came from far and wide for a nostalgic experience.
The weekend started on Friday evening with a cocktail party at Clivia Place, home of Tish and Anthony Coleman. Saturday morning saw a group enjoy a battlefields tour with Anthony, who is one of KZN’s top tour guides.
In the afternoon the group gathered at Dundee High School to walk the corridors and classrooms of memories. Red and black balloons were released in memory of those who have passed on or could not make the reunion.
There was a dinner at the Royal Country Inn in the evening with plenty of sixties music reminiscent of the time. There were also fun prizes for the best couple to perform the jive, and the granny with the most grandchildren.
A reunion brunch concluded on the weekend on Sunday morning at Yola and Brian Balsdon’s home.
Pastor Reg Courtney delivered a thanksgiving message and reminded us that the senior years can be fun, and it’s all about our attitude.
