The grade 5 pupils at Hamilton have been given many exciting learning opportunities through the course of the year.
Their academic programme has been rounded off with many outings and activities, including an overnight camp to Bergventure in the Central Drakensberg, where the children enjoyed abseiling, horse riding and raft building among other challenging physical activities.
Congratulations to pupils Alisha Naidoo and Tashfiq Rahman who came second and joint third respectively in the Regional Inter-Library Spelling Bee organised by the Ladysmith Public Library in September.
A recent highlight was the ‘Narnia Dress-Up Day’ when each child in the class dressed up as a character from their set-work ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ by CS Lewis. Many themes were addressed in this remarkable book, including trustworthiness, self sacrifice and forgiveness.
