
Parents and well wishers of ML Sultan Estcourt Primary attended the annual Speech and Awards function on November 27.
The Forderville Primary School Hall was transformed into an audio visual arena as the slide show of events held in 2013 was showcased to all role players.
The principal, Mr DH Zuma indicated the highlights both academically and on the sports field.
The chairperson of the School Governing Body Rev KH Nduli congratulated educators and learners on their fine achievements.
The school choir entertained the crowd with their melodious renditions. Parents cheered learners as they each received awards.
Nkosinomusa Mbongwa captured the special award for English, Technology and Natural Science. Neliswa Mbatha obtained highest marks in Isizulu and Nomonde Mhlanga had the highest in Arts and Culture.
Leticia Mchunu captured a total of four subject awards for Maths, Social Science, Life Orientation and Economic and Management Sciences. It was extra-ordinary that one learner captured both the Dux award and the Good fellowship Award. Congratulations Leticia Mchunu on such an outstanding performance and may you continue to make us proud.
The sportsboy Siyanda Duma was described as an all rounder on the sportsfield. He trained very hard and excelled in volleyball, soccer and athletics.
He also represented the district in shot putt and went on to represent the region in Durban. Congratulations Siyanda, you made us very proud.
The sportsgirl trophy was awarded to Nomonde Ndumo for her outstanding efforts in athletics and netball. She also represented the District at Regional level and made the school proud.

Miss Gwala received the floating trophy for her commitment in volleyball as she motivated learners to participate in tournaments, league matches and those organised by the Department. Mrs Makhathini, Miss NC Ngcobo, Miss NM Mazibuko and Mrs Moletsane were honoured for their contributions in making the ML Sultan choir the best in the district. The function ended with a group photo taken with the entire staff and all the awardees.
