Phumelelani Primary School held a speech and awards function on Tuesday, November 19.

It was organised by the school. The focus was mainly to motivate children to fully participate in the curricular and extra-curricular activities. Categories ranged from academic achievements in the subjects as well as merit awards for different subjects.

Mandisa Mbhele in grade seven was awarded with the Dux Award after excelling academically and in other categories. Lucky Mbhele was awarded a trophy and certificate for creativity since he emerged as the best artist the school ever had.

Parents honoured this function, with Mr Maphanga the Principal of Mpumelelo High School being the guest speaker. His presentation inspired parents and learners as it centred on positive behaviour among teenagers and future career paths. The school thanks all stakeholders for honouring this function and making it a success.

The motive behind this function was to motivate children to perform beyond expectations, by awarding incentives to reinforce positive behaviour. Other categories included responsibility, neatness, cleanliness and creativity. Focus was on giving credit to all learners in the respective phases.
