Abused dog put down
The dog was drifting in and out of consciousness, having sustained serious head injuries
The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is sad to report that there have been recent cases of abuse and neglect.
On Monday morning, the league received a tip-off from a member of the public about a dog being abused. AACL officials met with the concerned resident on Tuesday morning and they went out to a house in St Chad’s.
Upon arrival they found a chained-up dog that had been badly beaten. The dog was drifting in and out of consciousness, having sustained serious head injuries. There was also a lot of blood on the wall, which is believed to have belonged to the dog.
This dog and another dog in the same yard were removed and taken to the vet. They were both put down. Police have been informed of the incident. The house owner, who is known to the AACL and the Gazette, is being watched and has been warned.
On Sunday, someone left six dogs at the side of the road. A mommy dog and her five puppies were tied to a rock outside the AACL offices and abandoned there. This is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. A white bakkie was seen speeding off.
