Trevicamp provides a fun filled week

One of the most popular activities was horse riding, they also tried mountain biking, musketry, soap-box races, canoeing on the College dam, paintball and fishing, together with a number of competitive team games

While most of the school were away, there were still children at play at Treverton attending the school’s summer Trevicamp!
The camp was organised by Prep Deputy Headmaster Marc Schulze and colleague Andy Dijkstra and while this was not the first holiday camp that they organised, this had a new slant as they offered overnight accommodation.
This aspect was well supported with 14 young people from a number of KZN schools attending.
They not only delighted in the large campus with its myriad of amenities but also enjoyed participating in these.
One of the most popular activities was horse riding, they also tried mountain biking, musketry, soap-box races, canoeing on the College dam, paintball and fishing, together with a number of competitive team games. The highlight of the week was overnight camping in Treverton’s Wildlife area.
These on-campus enthusiasts were joined most days by over 30-local children, many of them Treverton pupils, who swelled the crowd and also took part in all the activities, while parents could finish off a year’s work and prepare for Christmas, knowing their children were in a safe and supervised environment.
The success of the camp was proved when the organisers received a number of complimentary e-mails from parents, while their children were keen to book a place for the 2014 camp.
Organiser Marc Schulze emphasised that the success of the camp was due to teamwork from catering to the many staff members and their children who assisted in the events.
The planning of this event started in March 2013, when the Trevicamp website was launched.
