Ciara’s fabulous year at Treverton

At the school's senior Prize Giving, she received a number of prizes. One of the most prestigious was the Prize for Good Fellowship

After a fabulous year for Dundee’s Ciara Botha who has the Headgirl at Treverton College, Mooi River in 2013, her IEB National Senior Certificate results were her final triumph when she obtained four distinctions in the exam. These were for Afrikaans, Business Studies, Life Orientation and Mathematics.
Throughout her school career at Treverton College, Ciara was recognised as a multi-talented student in the classroom and on the sports fields.
Despite the demands of her leadership position, she continued to exhibit her leadership qualities and display her many abilities in her last year at school. She was awarded colours for academics at the beginning of the year and was the Senior Victrix Ludorum at the annual Inter-House gala, a position she maintained from the previous year.
She played hockey for an inland hockey team and during the season celebrated playing over 100 games for Treverton’s first hockey team. She received a Honours award for hockey and the prize for the most consistent player of the team.
During the third team, when the pressure is on Grade 12 learners to prepare for trial’s exams, Ciara captained the first Basketball team, which participated in Girls’ High’s 22nd Annual National Tournament, where she was named as one of the most valuable players at the tournament. She was awarded half colours for the sport and received Treverton’s prize for the most valuable player of the year.
She also represented the school at Tennis and Water Polo.
At the school’s senior Prize Giving, she received a number of prizes. One of the most prestigious was the Prize for Good Fellowship. This prize is awarded on the results of the students’ vote. She also received the prizes for All-Round Excellence, and for All-Round sporting ability.
Treverton also provided Ciara with many personal memories. Her younger siblings Jeanne and Sasha were at school with her and played on some of the same sports teams. Her grandmother Rianne Botha, who retired at the end of 2013, was a member of the Afrikaans staff and is the legendary hockey and athletics’ coach in the Midlands.
Ciara plans to study Sports Science at Stellenbosch University this year. She is the daughter of Dr Andre and Monica Botha of Dundee.
