Today (Wednesday) was the first day of school and as usual, there were tears and smiles to mark the occasion.
Many children were returning to school, while for others it was their first time ever! The latter can be traumatic, evidenced by the wails of those who clung onto their parents, unwilling to leave their sight. There were even some parents who let a few tears roll down their faces. The camera seemed to stop some of the little ones from crying when they saw it was aimed at them.
Other children were excited to be at this place called school, where they could meet new friends, play with new toys and learn all kinds of interesting new things. The teachers expertly played their part by comforting those who needed it and making sure everyone settled into the classroom environment as quickly as possible.
