Promotions for Treverton College staff

Two members of Treverton College’s teaching staff have been appointed to senior positions at the school. Mr Rob Wyatt-Minter, Head of the Mathematics Department and Deputy Head of Student Affairs has been promoted to the position of a Senior Deputy Headmaster. Mr Dave Purdon, the Head of the Geography Department has been appointed as Deputy Headmaster: Academics.

Mr Rob Wyatt-Minter, Head of the Mathematics Department and Deputy Head of Student Affairs has been promoted to the position of a Senior Deputy Headmaster.
Mr Dave Purdon, the Head of the Geography Department has been appointed as Deputy Headmaster: Academics.
This position became vacant at the end of 2013, with the resignation of Owen Buchanan. Wyatt-Minter has been at the College since 2008, and has been responsible for the introduction of a number of innovative developments in student life. For the past two years, senior students have been able to enrol for the Toastmasters course and some have acquitted themselves with honour at inter-school rounds in KZN. He has also been responsible for matric portfolios.
The Grade 12 class is divided into groups; these are responsible for becoming involved in a broad range of the school’s activities and developments.
As a keen sportsman and accomplished basketball player, he has developed the school’s basketball teams and introduced the sport for girls. He has also organised two basketball marathons at the school. The successful 2009 marathon was a world record, which was recognised by Guinness records. He is marathon runner and has successfully completed a number of Comrades marathons. He is married; his wife Sasha is a journalist, their daughter Emily is in Grade six at the Prep. Dave Purdon has been at Treverton since 2000. After completing his honours degree, he joined the staff as one of the College’s first teaching interns. On completing his teaching qualifications, he became a permanent member of the Geography Department and was later appointed Head of the Department.
He also served as Housemaster of Harland House for some years. He is an accomplished hockey player and is in charge of boys’ hockey at the school; he also coaches tennis and is a keen golfer.
His wife Nikki is the Housemother of the Trew House, one of the girls’ boarding houses at the school. Their two young children attend Treverton Pre-Primary School.
