November 30, 2013 brought upon a thunderous applause for the educators and Grade nine learners of Drakensberg Secondary as they were acknowledged for their outstanding achievements at the GET Excellence Awards held at the FET College in Ezakheni.
Drakensberg Secondary was placed first overall in the Uthukela District, and the following learners and educators were awarded for their remarkable results:
1. English – Zahra Dawood – teacher – Miss N Vahed
2. Afrikaans – Tashmika Anandpersad – Mrs M Ramroop
3. Maths – Sphephelo Duma – Ms NC Mabaso
4. Social Science – Nontuthuko Mabaso – Ms R Ramjan
5. EMS – Fundiswa Ngcobo – Mrs S Paramanand
6. Arts and Culture – Fundiswa Ngcobo – Mr H Krishna
7. Technology – Nontuthuko Mabaso.

The school was commended for their outstanding results and the stakeholders were thanked for their contributions.
Mr S Sewlal, the current principal, commented that these results bear testimony to the fact that Drakensberg Secondary excels not only in the FET phase but is overall a school that produces excellent results.
