The prefects left for a very exciting prefect camp on January 17. They were met by the very friendly instructors, Johan and Vernon. They had to do activities that taught them that when working in a team there is no such thing as ‘I’, but only ‘we’.
The prefects of 2014 stuck together as a team and faced the 15-metre abseil at ATKV Drakensville.
They learned how to communicate and trust one another.
They were told not to speak any other language but English, and at times they found it difficult, but soon they realised that for the ‘we-factor’ they had to do things that everybody understood.
The prefects thank the teachers, Mrs M de Swardt, Mr A Slabbert, Mr and Mrs Van der Westhuizen, and Principal Dr ML Neethling, who accompanied them on the weekend.
It was fun and incisive.
They learned a lot. Thank you very much, and the prefects look forward to a very exciting 2014.
