Helping keep Paradise safe

Paradise is a suburb with much to be thankful for. A big reason is Mark Jacobs, director of Two Eagles Security and founder of Paradise Neighbourhood Watch.

Helping to keep the community safe, Mr Jacobs works tirelessly to ensure the monitoring of houses under his wing. For a small monthly fee, residents can sleep soundly, knowing that someone is keeping watch.

“I’m not out to make money. I have the interests of the community at heart, and I try my best to make sure that the area I cover is kept safe,” said Mr Jacobs.

Despite all the challenges, Mr Jacobs has succeeded in keeping Paradise crime free for almost seven months. In the last two weeks there were four house burglaries, three of which were at homes not under his protection.

“My only advice is that people must not tell their domestic workers for how long they will be away on holiday. Every break in has happened while the home owners were away, and every time it seems to be someone who knows the properties,” said Mr Jacobs.

A clean run of seven months is down to pure hard work. Mr Jacobs cited visibility as the biggest deterrent to crime. “Being visible lets the people know that I am here. Constantly patrolling is part of the game,” he said.

Mr Jacobs has urged other communities to set up a similar service, to prevent as much crime as possible.
