Traffic Officer Nafisa Gunkel paid a welcome visit to Drakensview to teach the learners some very important lessons on road safety.
During the lively and entertaining talk learners were rewarded with stars for giving the correct answers.
They learnt about ‘buckling up”, where to wait safely for their transport and to always wait for the taxi to stop before getting in. To ensure our learners’ safety the taxi drivers have been instructed to fetch the little children from the school gate.
Grade three Aneme Ngcobo helped dramatise the scholar patrol scene, while grade one Sphesihle was the robot.
The school is grateful to traffic officer Gunkel for visiting the children with her powerful message. Now it is up to the teachers, and more importantly our learners’ parents, to be sure all the children remember the rules of the road.
