Ladysmith High School (LHS) held their Watermelon Day at the school grounds on Friday morning.
The pupils didn’t have time to worry about the wet and cold weather, as they had fun eating and throwing watermelons at each other.
The rugby field was full of children running around, having a great time.
Squeals of delight and mock disgust could be heard as ‘victims’ were sought out and pelted or smeared with juicy watermelon.
Matted hair and mischievous smiles abounded!
This is an annual festival for the pupils at LHS, and is always thoroughly enjoyed.
After everyone had their fill of tasty watermelon and energetic fun running around on the field, it was time to go home in the rain.
Some of the pupils chose to walk and let the soft rain wash off the sticky residue of the watermelon that had been rubbed all over them.
