A MALE nurse was arrested on the charge of leading the “bogus employment opportunities at the Vryheid Hospital” scam.
According to the local SAPS the man was arrested at his home in town on Thursday, January 30, after the police had conducted an investigation following a case that had been opened by a woman who claimed that she had been conned by this man.
It is alleged that the man was promising locals that he would “squeeze them in” on the employment roll at the hospital in exchange for money and or sexual favours.
He was later released on R3000 bail on the day of his arrest.
His chance at freedom was short-lived as he was again taken into custody when two more accusers surfaced and claimed that they too, had been swindled by the very same man.
The accused appeared in court on Tuesday, February 4 on charges of fraud and corruption and his case was postponed to March 12.
Vryheid SAPS urges all community members who may have fallen victim to this scam to come forward and report this or contact Warrant Officer Singh on 084 644 3060 or 082 557 7394.
