OUR 81st Interhouse Athletic Meeting was held on January 27. Despite the fact that it was very hot, we saw some amazing attempts and even a record or two were bettered. The team had a solid start, beating Ferrum 19-7 and Escourt 28-5. The game against Newcastle was tough and we lost that game 5-28. Landbou had a good performance, but VHS beat them 24-5. We lost to Dundee in our last group game 12-10, as Dundee scored a last minute try. We advanced to the semi-finals in 3rd place having to face Dundee again. It was a nail-biter and VHS won the game 28-21 in the last minute. We won the final against Newcastle convincingly with 41-14. Thank you to the boys who conducted themselves with great manners and discipline and played very well. Athletics at Piet Retief: All the athletes who qualified during our Interhouse meeting participated at Piet Retief and generally performed very well. 45 athletes from VHS took part. The following results were achieved: Pamela Chukwu received a gold medal for 100m Hurdles, 100m en 200m. Her time of 16 seconds in the 100m Hurdles was her best achievement with a total score of 770 on the ASA table. Jurgens Jonker 1ste in die 1500m seuns 0/17 met 635 punte op die ASA tabel. M Shanga 1ste in die 1500m vir seuns 0/15 met 630 punte op die ASA tabel. Verder het ons nog vier 2de plekke en tien 3de plekke behaal. Welgedaan!
