Mr Haschke challenged the school to collectively donate R3 000 towards CANSA. If this amount was reached, Mr Haschke promised to colour his very prominent beard bright pink the day before shaving it off.
DHS is incredibly proud of all their learners and staff, who unselfishly donated towards this very deserving
cause. DHS met its target and exceeded it, raising well over R7 000! Special mention must be made of Mrs Boshoff and her register class 12AB, because they alone collected about half of the target amount.
Poetry Club: Two learners represented DHS at a poetry workshop on February 22 in Durban. Ayanda Duze and Sifundiswa Phiri had the privilege of attending and gaining a lot of knowledge from the experience. The learned about advanced poetry writing, composition, story writing and analysing poetry in your own language.
Mudman: The second
Mudman is already done and dusted! The Epworth Mudman, held at the Albert Falls Dam, took place on March 2. Thirty-one DHS learners left very early in the morning to join a huge crowd of fellow mudmen.
All the DHS learners spent a beautiful day at the dam swimming, cycling and then struggling through a very
hot, dusty, sticky run. A special thank-you must be said to Justin Dekker’s granny, who baked delicious biscuits for all the DHS participants.
Well done to all the full-individual and half-individual athletes as well as the teams: you made DHS proud! See you all at the Cordwalles Mudman in two weeks.

Boys’ hockey first team – off to Spur: The first team will be acting as waiters at Spur on March 4 and 11. Please come and support these boys as they are doing this to raise money for the team. You will be guaranteed service with a smile!
Rugby: Op Februarie 22 het Hoërskool Dundee se tweede en O/15 spanne na Volksrust gereis, om deel te neem aan die Volksrust pa-en-seun rugbydag. Die tweede span het gelykop gespeel 12-12. Die O/15 span het met ‘n telling van 12-5 as oorwinnaars uit die stryd getree. Hoërskool Dundee het tydens die Sarel Cilliers rugbydag teen Hoërskool Standerton gespeel, en het ondanks hul pogings die onderspit teen Standerton
gedelf.
Hockey: Dundee High School’s girls’ first hockey team played in the annual Spar Hockey Tournament at Ferrum on Saturday, February 22. Dundee High drew against Vryheid Landbou, beat Utrecht and St Dominics, and lost against Ferrum High School. Unfortunately Dundee High missed out on a spot in the
semi-finals.
Tennis: Op Februarie 14 het Hoërskool Dundee se junior tennisspelers deelgeneem aan die Noord-Natal proewe by St Dominincs. Janco Kotze en Chanté Groenewald is gekies as lede van die span.
Op Februarie 15 het Dewaldt Wait en Gerald Bunge deelgeneem aan die senior proewe by St Dominincs,
en albei is gekies vir die Noord-Natal O/19B-span.
