Residents get funky for CANSA

For the duration of the weekend, residents lent their support to CANSA.

Bright colours and vibrant people summed up Shavathon efforts throughout the weekend.

Residents sported funky-tastic rainbow hairstyles, vivid gelled masterpieces, and even went bare (headed) to garner necessary funding for CANSA and the important purpose the organisation serves.

On Friday, booths were set up at Pick n Pay stores in Hutten Heights and Pioneer Park.

The following day, Shavathon fever hit the Newcastle Mall, with staff of local businesses and school pupils offering residents the simple choice of spray, gel or spray.

Famed singer, Heinz Winckler even made an appearance and gave a message of support.

He posed alongside the mayoral couple, Afzul and Farhana Rehman before leaving to prepare for his live performance at Amajuba Wildsfees later in the evening.

Three whole days of the Shavathon concluded with a stint at Amajuba Mall on Sunday.

Residents, pupils and business people who came out in their numbers for CANSA’s sake are thanked and congratulated on setting a fashion trend for a good cause.
