Flood warning issued by Protection Services
The Newcastle Municipality will be issuing a statement later today regarding the floods.
Due to persistent rainfall, a flood warning has been issued by Protection Services.
The Ncandu River has overflowed, the rushing torrent flowing over the riverbanks behind the Farmers Hall and the area behind the taxi rank. Amcor Dam has also overflowed and police, for the safety of motorists, have closed Umfolozi Avenue.
The sluice gates at the weir will be opened at 12 pm. Stay tuned for updates on potential road closures.
