Ichthus: Athletes and swimmers on the go

All of the athletes performed well, yielding excellent results.

On March 26, 13 swimmers took part in the Hamilton Fun Sprint Gala, held at the Ladysmith Municipal Pool.
The results were as follows: Kwanda Maphalala (B U/9): 50m Freestyle – third. Sam Maltman (B U/10): 50m Breaststroke – second; 50m Butterfly – first. Amy-Faith Stein (G U/10): 50m Butterfly – first; 50m Backstroke – third. Hamish Grierson (B U/11): 50m Backstroke – third. Calvin MacDonald (B U/12): 50m Backstroke – third. MacGreiger Stein (B U/12): Individual Medley (4x50m) – first (new record); 50m Breaststroke – second; 50m Butterfly – first; 50m Backstroke – first; 50m Freestyle – first.

Umzinyathi athletics
On March 1 five athletes from Ichthus participated in the second round of the CMC athletics meeting, held at Dundee Junior School. All of the athletes performed well, yielding excellent results. The results were as follows: Jan-Frederik van Zyl (B U/13): javelin – first (new record); discus – first; shotput – second. Vukile Buthelezi (B U/13): 80m hurdles – fifth; high jump – second; javelin – second. Andrew Tiley (B U/12): shotput – first. André Spies (B U/12): javelin – first. Hamish Grierson (B U/11): high jump – second.
Jan-Frederik van Zyl improved the javelin record by 10,5m – a fantastic performance!
Ichthus congratulates the athletes who made it into the next round, which will be held in Durban this coming weekend.
