Their splash gala showcased the work their beginner and intermediate level swimmers have been doing over the past swimming season

Hamilton Preparatory School hosted their two annual galas this passed week. Their splash gala showcased the work their beginner and intermediate level swimmers have been doing over the past swimming season. Great fun and excitement was had by those participating in this gala!

The sprint gala took place on Wednesday, February 26. The gala was well supported by Hamilton and the four other independent schools, and saw just under 100 children participating in a mix of individual and relay races.

Five records were broken during the course of the morning. McGregor Stein of Ichthus broke the record for the Open Individual Boys’ Medley, Jadon Malherbe of St Dominics’ Academy established a new record in the Boys’ U/14 50m Backstroke, Joshua McKay of Hamilton set a new record for the Boys’ U/11 50m Freestyle, and Sarah-Joy Pringle of Hamilton set three new records for the Girls’ U/12 in 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle.

A wonderful time was had by all and it is clear that swimming is alive and well in the schools in our region.
