Computer literacy vital for Gelekedle Secondary School

GELEKEDLE Secondary School is a disadvantaged school in the rural area of Hlobane.

Learners from Grade 10 are taking part in the Youth Citizen Action Programme (YCap).

The programme is about identifying problems that affect the schools in the vicinity and then choosing any one that they would like to solve.

They have chosen to take on the lack of computers, which they believe to be a problem as the world demands technologically literate people who have access to information.

They believe that this is not only a problem for them, but also for their community and the country at large, because in order for them to be a part of the economic mainstream, computer literacy is a vital part of their education.

A group of 10 learners from Grade 10 is dedicated to fight and win this battle, but they know that they cannot do it alone.

They are therefore requesting the assistance of the community to join hands with them and give them an opportunity to become better citizens.
