Alert cops seize dagga

Smuggler was in possession of 5kg of dagga

Wide-awake police officers seized over 5kg of dagga when they stopped a minibus taxi on the Rorke’s Drift/Helpmekaar road on Monday. The police patrol had pulled the vehicle over to search the passengers. One, a 26-year-old woman, was found in possession of the stash, which had a street value of more than R6 000.
She was promptly arrested and charged. The drug smuggler was on her way from Pomeroy to Gauteng.
The Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Lt General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, commended the good work done by the members. “We will continue to get rid of drugs in our area, and we appeal to the community to work together with the police in the fight against drugs,” she said.
