A case of hijacking turned into a charge of defeating the ends of justice when a false report was made on Monday, March 17.
Police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela said that police followed up on information that a vehicle was hijacked and after an investigation was conducted, it revealed that this was a false report.
“The complainant opened the case to cover up for using a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, after he was involved in an accident,” he said.
A charge of defeating the ends of justice was opened against the suspect who was later arrested and will appear in the Estcourt Magistrates Court.
