Weston Agricultural College celebrates its centenary this year, the school originally opened on August 17, 1914 as the Weston Agricultural and Allied Trades School, with five pupils.
Over the last 100 years, more than one generation of a family has attended the school, though three successive generations of one family, who will all be able to attend Old Westonians day, this year, and join in the centenary celebrations is of special significance.
The Humphries-Engelbrecht family is one that can claim this. Grandfather Keith Humphries matriculated from Weston in 1951, his son Raymond matriculated in 1980 and Keith’s grandson and Raymond’s nephew Austin Engelbrecht carried the family tradition into the 21st century, attending the school and matriculating in 2011.
Weston would be pleased to hear about other families who have had more than one generation attend the school.
