Beware, be vigilant.
This is the advice from Estcourt police after several cases of theft out of motor vehicles have been reported in the Central Business District.
Police spokesperson Captain JS Sokhela says that the hot spots are Victoria, Harding and Alexandra streets.
He encourages motorists to double check that their vehicles are properly locked before leaving it unattended.
Previously residents reported that a remote control was being used to jam a vehicle’s central locking system, so double-checking that your vehicle is locked is always a good idea.
Captain Sokhela also suggests that tools or property not be left at the back of bakkies, as this is an easy target for criminals.
Items like cellular phones, handbags and wallets should never be left inside the vehicle in plain view.
Residents can report suspicious activity to the police on 036 342 9525.
