BREAKING NEWS UPDATE:
The diver has called Captain van Staden, who has been in the water directing the search, over to her location.
It appears they have discovered something, as both Captain van Staden and the diver have converged on one location, and it appears they are trying to free something.
It is unclear what is transpiring at this point.
It looks like the diver has tired, and Captain van Staden will take over. They are swapping equipment.
Officials have called for the mortuary van. They have discovered the body trapped under a tree.
UPDATE:
Journalists on scene say divers have entered the water to try and find the man believed to have drowned yesterday afternoon.
Following the unsuccessful attempt to find the body last night, witnesses and police divers are again searching.
Bystanders are tense and silent as they watch the divers work.
The father of the young woman who was robbed yesterday afternoon is also on the scene to help officials pinpoint the spot where the robber allegedly went down.

Police divers are searching for the body of a man believed to have drowned in the Ncandu River yesterday afternoon.
According to witnesses on the scene, the man had jumped into the river, after he had robbed a young woman of her Blackberry cellphone.
“I was walking to town, taking this shortcut here through Farmers Hall,” said the victim, indicating the path she had been walking on.
She was approached by two men, one of which pulled out a knife, shouting in Zulu, “Give it to me!”, pointing at her cellphone.
After she handed over the phone, the man took off. Quick thinking and the good fortune of seeing her father drive past, ensured that the victim could summon help almost immediately.
A passing police van was stopped, and two policemen joined the search.
According to witnesses, the man had jumped into the icy river to avoid arrest. He was heard calling for help, before witnesses allegedly saw him sink below the surface.
A preliminary dive was done last night, however, it yielded no results. The dive team will assemble again this morning, to further explore the area of river the man is believed to have drowned in.
