Protestors blamed for water cuts

Lennoxton, Aviary Hill, Signal Hill and Pioneer Park are suburbs reported to have no water supply.

Protesting municipal workers have been blamed for water cuts across Newcastle this morning.

Multiple municipal sources confirmed the workers, who again barricaded themselves inside the municipality yesterday afternoon, were responsible for Lennoxton, Aviary Hill, Signal Hill and Pioneer Park being left without water supply from the early hours of the day.

One such source was the mayor, Afzul Rehman.

A telephonic discussion with a staff member of the municipal call centre, revealed the municipality was aware of the problem and was currently working on restoring water supply urgently.

Further information will be released as it is received.
