Sphamandla Nkosi (40) of Martha Farm was assaulted and stoned to death by angry community members on April 27.
This incident is believed to have occurred in the Mbabane area. It is alleged that the deceased was attacked by a mob of angry community members after apparently attempting to rape a 27-year-old woman.
He threatened her with a panga and took her to an unknown house, but she managed to escape and alert community members.
The community members acted fast and beat the deceased severely. He was later rushed to Madadeni Hospital and died the next day. “I condemn the vigilantism where the community are punishing the suspects themselves. Community members are requested not to involve themselves in this type of action, but rather assist the police in apprehending the suspects,” said Constable Nyembe.
