Chemicals burn passengers after crash

The three cows transported on the trailer appear to have not been injured as they ran away from the scene

Two people were seriously hurt and two other suffered chemical burns when a bakkie, towing a trailer transporting three cows, overturned on the Dundee/Nquthu road on Friday afternoon.
Robert McKenzie of the KZN Emergency Medical Services said the bakkie was also transporting chemical acids used in pit toilets; the acid spilt on two of the occupants after the containers broke during the accident.
Paramedics from KZN EMS, officers from the SAPS and RTI and the fire department responded to the scene. The patients were treated for their injuries before being transported to Dundee Hospital for continued care.
The cattle seem to have not been injured as they ran away from the scene, when the trailer overturned.
The cause of the accident is not known and is being investigated by the police
