Mrs Shrinath says she is sick and tired of being a victim of crime. This after a burglary at her house in Daffodil Crescent on Sunday afternoon.
Mrs Shrinath decided to visit her mother on Sunday, as it was Mother’s Day. She was at her mom’s house for about two hours in the afternoon before returning home to find her room in a mess. It was then that she noticed her burglar guards had been cut.
She immediately contacted the police, who dispatched officers to the scene to look for fingerprints and take statements.
Mrs Shrinath says the strange and scary thing is that only a small piece of burglar guard was cut, making space for a tiny person to fit through. She therefore thinks the criminals possibly used a child to get into her house. “I am so tired of being a crime victim. This is not the first time I have been in a situation like this,” said a frustrated Mrs Shrinath.
This is the second time her house has been broken into. In April last year, her home was broken into and many items were taken. Then, recently, her car battery was also stolen. Mrs Shrinath is heartbroken that her family planned a special Mother’s Day for her, but everything was ruined due to the housebreaking.
She is now appealing to the police to have a more visible presence in the area, as she claims there are many delinquent teenagers on drugs who will do anything to get their next ‘fix’. A laptop, cell-phone, watch and school textbooks were stolen during the most recent break-in.
Police are investigating a case of housebreaking and theft.
