Stock theft is rampant in the Normandien/Dannhauser area but with the arrest of a man police hope that they have helped to curb the scourge.

Morena Mokoena of QwaQwa was arrested when members of the Glencoe Stock Theft Unit, Warrant Officer Steven Brown and Constable TMP Kunene, stopped a taxi at about 11.30pm in the Normandien area.

Nine sheep carcasses were found in the taxi. One of the two occupants of the taxi was arrested.
Upon following up information, police discovered another eight slaughtered sheep in a clump of trees on Koningberg farm.
Mokoena has appeared in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court where he was convicted of the theft of Anton Pitout’s sheep.
He still has to be sentenced.

Last week, members of the Glencoe Stock Theft Unit against stopped a vehicle in the Normandien area and discovered three live sheep that had been stolen from Morgan Gregory’s farm.
Two men were arrested.
