Inside job suspected

The business was burgled during the early hours of Monday morning.

The owner of an electrical store on Allen Street was greeted with the sorry sight of his burgled shop on Monday morning.

Apparently, burglars broke into the store via a back-alley entrance and stole cellphones and other equipment,

“They broke the locks on the gate to the alley, as well as the locks to the back door of the shop,” said the police.

It is suspected the thieves were interrupted during the burglary as merchandise were found in the alley.

A business associate of the owner of the shop, who wished to remain anonymous, speculated the burglary was an inside job.

“The thieves knew exactly how to get in and out of the shop, and they knew where all the expensive stuff was kept,” he said. A shopping trolley found near the premises was presumably used to transport goods from the store to a get-away vehicle.
