Two suspects were arrested on Monday afternoon after a brave teenager valiantly fought off armed robbers and then chased them.
The teenager was using a shortcut in the Egerton area when he was accosted by two knife-wielding men.
The teen passed the two while walking and was suddenly caught from behind, around his neck, by one of them.
The other man pulled out a knife and the two forced the boy to the ground.
They robbed him, despite his efforts to fight them off, stealing his cell-phone and a bag containing personal belongings.
Once free from their grip, the boy chased the two suspects.
A passing police vehicle saw the commotion and stopped to see what was going on.
The detectives from Elandslaagte SAPS pursued the robbers and they were both arrested.
All the stolen property was recovered, despite the fact that the brazen criminals tried to dispose of it while making their short-lived getaway.
The two suspects, aged 18 and 20, will soon appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on robbery charges.
