Thieves vandalise church

No suspects have been apprehended after church was vandalised and robbed.

Brazen thieves made off with a stainless steel cross and caused R2 000 worth of damage at the St Mary’s Anglican Church in Glencoe.
The incident occurred in the early morning of May 11, but was only discovered on May 24 by members of the small congregation. Broken stained glass windows and brass sliders from eight windows is but some of the damage caused.
Decima Jones, head of the tourism office and a member of the congregation, is deeply saddened by the vandalism. “We are a small congregation of pensioners, so we will have to try and raise some funds to properly secure our little chapel. We are giving our problem to God and praying for His help.” No suspects have been apprehended at this stage.
