An intensive search has been launched for an Estcourt man who is a third suspect in a Ladysmith murder.
Faizel Drew, in his 30’s, has been evading police since May 26.
Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker explains: “On April 7, 2014, a body of Uraj “Joe” Ahir, aged 44, was discovered at his home in Oswald Rapson Road, Ladysmith.
He was found lying in his bed.
A post mortem investigation was conducted it was determined that he had sustained injuries consistent with an assault.”
A case of murder was opened at Ladysmith and an investigation into his death began.
Colonel Naicker says that on May 26 police officers from the Ladysmith Detective Service and Ladysmith K9 Unit arrested two suspects, aged 23 and 36 years, in the Hillside area of Ladysmith.
“The third suspect is on the run and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.
The third suspect is known as Faizel Drew. He was last seen wearing a long beard and had a shaven head. Faizel is known to frequent Estcourt, Ladysmith, Durban, Pietermaritzburg and Johannesburg,” commented the colonel.
