Police are confident of a breakthrough after three heavily-armed men held an Ethiopian national and others up at gunpoint at a tuckshop in Sithembile on Sunday evening, making off with cash, cigarettes, airtime vouchers and two cellphones.
The men arrived at the shop at about 7:45pm and demanded that those in the store lie down. Several people were assaulted. After making off with the goods the men drove off in the shop owner’s Toyota Corolla.
Police are investigating several leads.

Man shot in stomach
A man was shot in the stomach while walking with his girlfriend near the Eskom depot in Glencoe at about 10pm last Friday. 
The 27-year-old man, who has not been named, was struck in the stomach with the bullet passing right through his body. His attacker then fled.
Miraculously he survived the attack, and is in hospital recovering.
