Newly Councillor sworn in

Councillor Ncala said she will 'work very hard to bring ANC supporters together in Ward 4': "I will be consulting with them from time to time, to give them feedback."

Newly-installed Endumeni ANC Councillor, Dudu Ncala, says she is puzzled that her detractors have labelled her as ‘an unknown’.
“I don’t know why people say they don’t know me. I grew up here, I attended crèche at Vukuzakhe Crèche in Sibongile, and I also matriculated at Thalana High School,” she told fellow councillors in a meeting during which she was officially sworn in.

Councillor Ncala said she will ‘work very hard to bring ANC supporters together in Ward 4’: “I will be consulting with them from time to time, to give them feedback.”

The ANC garnered 510 votes, or 39% of the vote. It was the first time that the ANC struggled to win Ward 4.
Councillor Ncala also promised to work with all those who did not vote for the ANC, and who were ‘talking badly about me and my party’.

At the same special Council meeting on July 10, a letter from the audit committee was tabled, which complained that acting Municipal Manager, Advocate R Brijraj, ‘disregarded us when we wanted information’.

However, Councillor Essop Adam said he found this strange, as this was ‘the first time I heard anything from the audit committee’.
Speaker Mdluli mentioned that during the Public Services meeting, which was attended by the MEC for Arts and Culture, Mrs N Sabhidla-Saphethe, the MEC labelled Sibongile as ‘filthy’, and said she hoped it would be cleaned up before last weekend’s Dundee July festival.

There were also questions regarding officials claiming excessive overtime during the Dundee July weekend. Senior officials were asked to cut the list, and to ensure that only those entitled to work overtime did so.
