Two separate cases of housebreaking and theft were finalised in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court recently.
In the first incident, which occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 5, in Ezakheni B-Section, a man was arrested while in the act of committing a crime. This after a woman arrived home and noticed that her door was ajar.
She quickly informed police, who dispatched Ladysmith K9 officers to investigate. The suspect was arrested with cell-phones and cash he had just stolen in his possession.
On Tuesday, July 1, 19-year-old Simphiwe Ernest Gama was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for housebreaking and theft.
In a second incident that took place on Wednesday, April 23, a housebreaking took place in Ezakheni A-Section, where property to the value of about R20,000 was taken. The suspect was traced and arrested by Ezakheni police.
Some of the stolen property was also recovered by the investigating officer.
On July 30, 23-year-old Zama Andile Elphuis was sentenced to three years behind bars for housebreaking and theft.
Both cases were allocated to the young Constable Ntombikayise Mvemve of Ezakheni Detective Services for investigation.
