EVERYONE at Vryheid Landbou enjoyed an awesome holiday!
Many activities took place during the holiday, which shows how active we are at Vryheid Landbou High School.

On the sports front:

Rugby: Kuhla Radebe played for Northern Natal in a tournament that took place at Reitz during the holiday. His team went through to the finals and beat the Valke. We are so proud of you and the guys, Kuhla!

Netball: Spheyena Dube was selected for the u/19 Umzinyathi District team. They played in Durban in the National Netball Championships. Spheyena’s team won all its matches and brought back the Umzinyathi trophy. The girls attended a Gala Dinner to round off the tournament. Well done!

Upcoming sport events: From July 25 to 27, Vryheid Landbou will be hosting a cricket clinic. We are so proud that Mr Divan van Wyk, a formidable Dolphins cricketer, will present the cricket clinic.
During the third term, sporting codes on offer at Vryheid Landbou will be soccer for both boys and girls, as well as cricket and volleyball.

Cultural: The Speech and Drama Festival will take place on August 12. Other activities include choir, chess, art classes and Land Service.
Our Matric class of 2014 attended a very productive Winter School at Vryheid Landbou during the last week of the holiday. Matrics, thank you for your diligence and positive attitude. To the educators that presented the Winter School, a very big thank you for your hard work.

Leadership Camp: From July 17 to 20, the Grade 11 class attended a leadership camp at Vryheid Landbou. They were guided by Mr C van Wyk, Mr. G Slump, Me L Lourens and Me S Ngubane.
The learners learnt what real leadership is and how important team work is. They also learnt that spiritual wellbeing is of utmost importance in our lives.

Land Service: The eight learners who attended the Provincial Camp at Sweetdale came back with such a positive attitude! They won the Talent show and did outreach work at a Children’s Home in Port Shepstone. Thank you guys – you were magnificent ambassadors for Landbou High School! A very special thank you to Batman and Sox Khumalo who monitored and encouraged the group on the camp.

The Waste Management team under Me C Khonjelwayo, is growing from strength to strength. The bins sponsored by Mondi are placed at strategic places on the school terrain.
Everybody involved in the project is working together to collect waste and distribute it in the correct bins. We are so proud of this successful project!
