Protest action closes Pomeroy road

Msinga was one of only seven municipalities to be given a clean audit by Auditor-General, Kimi Makwetu

The main road is closed at Pomeroy/Nhlanhleni.  Protesters in the area are again putting rocks on the road in ongoing protest action against what they say is the non-delivery of houses and electricity in the Msinga Municipal area.

Police have warned motorist to avoid the area.

The area has been the scene of ongoing protest action.    Msinga was one of only seven municipalities to be given a clean audit by

Auditor-General, Kimi Makwetu, for the 2012/13 financial year, in which he cited major positive trends by KwaZulu-Natal municipalities.

The province of KwaZulu-Natal, was showered with accolades by the AGSA for “tracking double digits in as far as clean audits is concerned”

The following municipalities received clean audits,

  • Uthungulu District
  • Msinga
  • Ntambanana
  • Okhahlamba
  • Ubuhlebezwe
  • uMhlathuze
  • uMzimkhulu
