Hilary Alixe Fraser, a woman with a dynamic personality and a heart-warming smile, is making a difference in Dundonian society.
Mrs Fraser, who is now 68, has been an educator for the past 43 years, teaching English at Sarel Cillers and Dundee High Schools. She describes her teaching days with great pride, and beams when she speaks about how privileged she was to be able to teach. “It was an interesting time, and I grew as a person,” she said.
She not only polished up her pupils’ command of English, but also serves spiritually in her post as a self-supporting Priest at the Anglican Church. A member of the church since childhood, Mrs Fraser is a devout devotee and centres her life around God. “I am not only a servant of God, but of the people too,” she added with the light of kindness in her eyes.
When Mrs Fraser is not ministering, she can be found in her garden tending to her beloved daffodils. Mrs Fraser also enjoys travelling, and has undertaken numerous visits to Los Angeles, Zambia, New Zealand, Britain and Switzerland.
Mrs Fraser is also a fitness fanatic, and takes part in half-marathons three to four times a year. When asked where her passion for running stems from, she explained how her daughter started running the marathon, and she decided to follow suit. Mrs Fraser also occupies her days with knitting and crocheting.
Mrs Fraser, a truly dynamic woman, continues to inspire through her life, and leaves readers with this message: “Have respect for everyone – understand where they come from and their problems.”
